Need a holiday gift idea? You'll love this...
So I know that the holidays are going to look very different this year from any we've had before. We won't be seeing some of our loved ones in person in order to keep them safe. So why not wrap them in warmth and love with handmade gifts? I know I'll be gifting mostly handmade items this year.
This cowl is awesome because it's not super thick, so it's just enough to keep your neck warm and covered but not too hot. It's another pattern I created that is easy, cute and a new piece of the Kisses N Hugs Collection! I just named it that...I didn't realize it would be a collection, but I just really like the texture!

The Kisses N Hugs Cowl

It's so Easy!

The cowl is worked in rounds and is made up of puff stitches and single crochet X stitches. I included links to video tutorials if you need to see how the stitches are worked.
All you'll need is:
  • Size J/6.00 MM crochet hook
  • 1 skein of Caron Simply Soft (#4 weight) or comparable yarn
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle for weaving in your ends

Perfect for Any Season!

Let's face it, the weather is unpredictable! In a single day here in Central/Upstate New York, we can start in the 20's and end up in the 70's! We may or may not get snow, and that starts in November and can last into May!! We have to be prepared! If you're anything like me, as long as your neck and hands are cozy, it's mostly good! The pattern uses a #4 weight yarn, so this cowl is just right for those in between days of Spring/Fall/Winter😂!

The Kisses N Hugs Cowl pattern will be FREE on Ravelry on 11/23/20!

My cowl is part of E'Claire Makery's Winter Fashion Blog Hop!! The way it works is kind of like a fun crochet scavenger hunt! All you need to do is head over to E'Claire Makery's page, by clicking on the picture below, to get the coupon code, then come back here to follow the link to Ravelry! Happy hunting!

<![CDATA[The Pebble Road Beanie]]>Thu, 01 Oct 2020 18:41:05 GMThttp://crochetandpositivity.com/premium-crochet-patterns/the-pebble-road-beanie
I just love this time of year! I get to ...
throw on a sweater, hat and scarf when I go outside! In central New York, Fall can get pretty chilly on some days, especially if it's windy!
You don't necessarily need a heavy, bulky hat, just something to protect you from the wind!

The Pebble Road Beanie

I recently released the Pebble Road Infinity Scarf, and I just knew I had to design a matching hat! That's the beauty of crochet, you can create a whole collection that has the same stitch pattern! In fact, keep an eye out, because there will also be fingerless gloves, so you can make a whole matching set ?!

The Yarn

Once again, I chose Caron Simply Soft (in Autumn Red of course). It has the perfect drape for this slightly slouchy hat! Try saying that ten times fast! My daughter and I just tried it, and it was hilarious!

The Sizes

The pattern includes instructions for small (21" circumference), medium (22" circumference) and large (23" circumference). The small and medium measure about 8 3/4" H, and the large measures about 9" H.

The Pattern

This is my first published hat pattern. And I'm gonna be honest with you, designing hats can be a challenge! Deciding on whether to design the hat from the bottom up or top down, brim or no brim, getting the measurements and sizes right..whoo! But it's worth it! This beanie is worked from the top down, so the crown is worked first. I have provided lots of photos to guide you through as well as detailed step by step instructions!

What you'll need

  • Between 115 to 160 yards of Caron Simply Soft yarn in your desired color, or any comparable #4 weight yarn that achieves the same gauge
  • Size J/6.00 MM crochet hook
  • Stitch Marker to keep track of the ends of the crown rounds
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle to weave in your ends

How to get the pattern:

The Pebble Road Beanie will be 50% off for 2 days only, 10/5/20 at 12:00 a.m. to 10/6/20 at 11:59 p.m., when you use the code 'PEBBLEROAD50'!! That's only $2!! Just click the link below to get the PDF!!

Oh my gosh!!! I'm just bursting with excitement over..
the fact that Fall is here!! I'm sorry to gush, but everything about it makes me happy! Don't get me wrong, I love Summer and all the things that go with it.. BUT I really love Fall with its cooler temperatures, changing leaves and pumpkin everything! It holds so much beauty and magic, don't you think?

The Pebble Road Infinity Scarf

The Color

When I think of Fall, vibrant colors like red, orange and yellow come to mind. So I HAD to make an autumn red scarf! And Caron Simply Soft's Autumn Red was the perfect fit. Big stitches and the lighter yarn make it perfect for Fall, when you don't need something super thick and heavy! Of course, you can use any comparable yarn in any color you'd like to make you feel autumn-y!

The Stitches

I absolutely LOVE texture! And it's no secret that I love the puff stitch. Stitch combinations of the puff stitch and flat stitches are so pretty next to each other. Together they make a somewhat uneven, nonperfect texture that I think is so beautiful! There's the added benefit that using stitches like the double crochet and puff stitch add height very quickly.

I know it's a little early for this, but...
I've been thinkin' about Gratitude! Why, you ask? Lately, more than ever, I've been taking note of all that I'm thankful for. I've been keeping up with my gratitude journal, which has made it easier and easier to focus on the good things in my life. The simplest things, like the company of my family and the affection of my pets, have taken on a whole new meaning. What better way to remind ourselves of all that we have to be grateful for than an adorable turkey coaster?

<![CDATA[KISSES N HUGS FINGERLESS GLOVES]]>Mon, 09 Mar 2020 16:15:05 GMThttp://crochetandpositivity.com/premium-crochet-patterns/kisses-n-hugs-fingerless-gloves
Hi! I know Valentine's Day is over, yes, I really do, but I just had to say a little something about it. I get soooo excited over this holiday for a couple reasons. First of all, I love Love, whether it's the love of a spouse, a significant other, a partner, a best friend, a child, I could name a million. Love is one of the most powerful forces in the world! It can heal a broken heart, mend differences, and bind us together. Yes, I know we should celebrate this all the time, not just on one day of the year, BUT, it's one day a year when us "gushers" are not judged so harshly for gushing!
Another thing I love about Valentine's Day is HEARTS! I mean, who doesn't love hearts! They are the universal symbol of love and affection. If you love hearts too, come check out some cute heart coasters at my Etsy shop by following this LINK!
And finally, Valentine's Day brings to mind two more of my favorite things, HUGS and KISSES! ❌⭕❌⭕. That's what inspired the Kisses & Hugs Fingerless Gloves pattern! Alternating rows of cute little kisses, then cute little hugs! These gloves are super easy and work up quickly! I'm not a super fast crocheter and I can make a pair in about an hour. This pattern is available on Ravelry and Etsy so you can make a pair for someone you love (this includes you, by the way ;-) )!
