Hi there!  How are you holding up?  I'm not gonna lie, I've been stressed.  So far, knock on wood, my family has stayed healthy.  My husband has a terrible cough, but has seen the doctor, and was told it's his asthma acting up.  So I've been praying a lot.  And trying to stay positive in spite of the chaos outside of the house.
I'm trying to think of quick and easy crochet projects that will keep us busy!  For some reason, I've been in a cottony mood.  Awhile back, I made these cute little dish scrubbies, and I absolutely love them!  First of all, sponges get so germy.  I think we've all smelled a sponge that's overstayed its welcome...gross (insert exaggerated fake gagging noise).  And other dish cloths I've used are so sloppy!  Have you ever been washing away and you get a dish soap bubble in the eye from the dish rag flopping around?  If you haven't, then I'm probably weird.  Either way, these little round scrubbies have a soft side for nonstick pans and a rough side for scrubbing.  And no flopping!  As an added bonus, you can just toss them in the laundry whenever they get dirty.

Materials:
  • Approximately 15 yards of #4 weight Cotton yarn of your choice (I've even used acrylic yarn for some of mine and it's worked just fine); I used Lily Sugar'n Cream in multiple colors
  • Approximately 15 yards of Scrubby yarn of your choice; I used Red Heart Scrubby yarn in Ocean
  • Size H/5.00 MM crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle for weaving in your ends
Abbreviations used:
  • CH = chain
  • ST = stitch
  • SC = single crochet
  • DC = double crochet
  • SL ST = slip stitch
Special Stitches:
  • Magic Circle; if you don't know how to do one, follow this LINK to see a video tutorial!
Notes:
  • The CH 3 at the beginning of each round counts as a stitch
Pattern:

Starting with a Magic Circle in your scrubby yarn,

Round 1:  CH 3, work 11 DC into the magic circle, SL ST into the top of the CH 3 (12 ST)
Round 2:  CH 3, work 1 DC into the same ST as the CH 3, then work 2 DC into each ST around, SL ST into the top of the CH 3 (24 ST)
Round 3:  CH 3, work 1 DC into the same ST as the CH 3, then work 1 DC into the next ST, work 2 DC into the next ST, work 1 DC into the next ST, continue this sequence around, SL ST into the top of the CH 3 (36 ST)
Tie off your scrubby yarn, pull your magic circle closed, and weave in your ends!
Starting with a Magic Circle and your cotton yarn,
Round 1:  CH 3, work 11 DC into the magic circle, SL ST into the top of the CH 3 (12 ST)
Round 2:  CH 3, work 1 DC into the same ST as the CH 3, then work 2 DC into each ST around, SL ST into the top of the CH 3 (24 ST)
Round 3:  CH 3, work 1 DC into the same ST as the CH 3, then work 1 DC into the next ST, work 2 DC into the next ST, work 1 DC into the next ST, continue this sequence all the way around, SL ST into the top of the CH 3 (36 ST)
Don't tie off your cotton yarn yet!  Pull the magic circle closed, and weave in the tail.  Now, taking your scrubby round, line both rounds up together, CH 1, and starting with the next ST, insert your hook through both your cotton and scrubby ST, and SC both of them together, work 1 SC into each ST around, SL ST into the first SC (36 ST)
Tie off your yarn and weave in your ends.

You're done!  Easy, colorful scrubbies for you and no soap in your eye ;-)  What colors are you going to make?  I'd love to see them!  Take care of you and stay safe!

Sending you Positive Energy,
Krista ☮
